Professional Background
I graduated from the University of Portland in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, along with a Reading Endorsement. My passion for education led me to further my studies in a Master’s program at WOSC in 1977. I have dedicated over three decades to teaching elementary school students, spending nine years in Aumsville, Oregon, and twenty-two years in Hillsboro, Oregon. My career in education has been deeply fulfilling, as I have had the opportunity to shape young minds and foster a love for learning.
Writing Career
Writing has always been one of my greatest passions. From a young age, I found joy in crafting poetry and creative stories. This passion was nurtured by my high school and college teachers, who recognized my ability to express myself through words and encouraged me to pursue writing. Their support and encouragement have been instrumental in my development as a writer.
Achievements and Awards
Throughout my career, I have been honored with several accolades. One of my notable achievements includes participating in the Intel Teach to the Future program within the Hillsboro School District. I have also served as a Master Teacher, mentoring new educators and helping them navigate the early stages of their careers. Additionally, I was a member of Oregon’s State Committee for state textbook adoption, where I contributed to the selection of educational materials used across the state.
Personal Interests
Outside of my professional life, I have a wide range of interests that keep me engaged and inspired. I love walking, hiking, and participating in dragon boat racing. Music is another significant part of my life; I enjoy playing the piano and listening to various genres. Horseback riding, reading, and exploring psychic development and spirituality are other activities that I find enriching. I also enjoy brain games, cooking, and spending quality time with family and friends. Playing games with friends is a cherished pastime that brings joy and connection into my life.
Inspiration
My journey has been shaped by several key individuals who have inspired and guided me. Mr. Barlow, my high school teacher, was a significant influence during my formative years. My parents, Ted Fieldbrave Jr. and Ruth Joy Fieldbrave, have always been my pillars of strength and support. My husband, Carl Bonofiglio Jr., has been a constant source of love and encouragement, inspiring me to pursue my dreams and passions.
Current and Future Projects
Looking ahead, I have several exciting projects on the horizon. I am planning to write two more books, one of which will focus on helping children cope with grief and loss. The theme of the second book is yet to be decided, and I am eager to see where life leads me in this creative endeavour. Additionally, I aim to embrace more travel experiences, as exploring the world is something I have longed to do and intend to pursue more actively in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. I look forward to connecting with you and sharing more of my journey.
